Guanxi, trust and reward-based crowdfunding success: a Chinese case
2019
Purpose This paper aims to examine different hypotheses concerning the effects of guanxi on the reward-based crowdfunding project fundraising. Specifically, this study provides new insights into how guanxi and guanxi intensity may affect reward-based crowdfunding success and project performance in the Chinese context. Design/methodology/approach The research data including 989 crowdfunding projects were collected from zhongchou.com which is the largest reward-based crowdfunding platform in a one-year period (2014.1-2014.12). The hypotheses are tested by using robust OLS regressions and robust logistic regressions. Robustness check was also conducted to test the validation of the results. F…
The long and winding road: Accidents and tinkering in software standardization
2021
Software is based on universal principles but not its development. Relating software to hardware is never automatic or easy. Attempts to optimize software production and drastically reduce their costs (like in hardware) have been very restricted. Instead, highly-skilled and experienced individuals are ultimately responsible for project success. The long and convoluted path towards useful and reliable software is often plagued by idiosyncratic accidents and emergent complexity. It was expected that software standardisation would remove these sources of unwanted diversity by aiming to controllable development processes, universal programming languages, and toolkits of reusable software compon…
Fundamental elements regarding the approach of risk management within the international projects with teams in the virtual environment
2021
International projects with teams in the virtual environment (IPTVE) are known as complex and high risk projects, these features being considered as significant obstacles to project success. Applying the appropriate risk management methodology could increase their success rate, becoming a fundamental tool for decision making. Research on IPTVE management risks is scarce, focused on specific sectors as software development or construction, without taking into account the differences between traditional and international projects. Thereby, risk management within IPTVE becomes a necessary approach for the performance in managing international projects. This article aims to improve the risk man…
Impact of key users’ motivation on enterprise resource planning (erp) implemenentation project success
2016
Uzņēmuma Resursu Plānošanas programmatūras (URP) ieviešana saistās ar lielām izmaksām un darbinieku noslodzi, taču tā sniedz arī daudzas priekšrocības, tādejādi kļūstot par gandrīz obligātu attīstības priekšnosacījumu veiksmīgajiem uzņēmumiem. Šī promocijas darba mērķis ir izpētīt, kuri darbinieku motivācijas veidi spēlē lielāko lomu URP ieviešana procesā. Darba empīriskajā daļā tika analizēti vairāk kā 200 pabeigtie URP projekti, ļaujot izdarīt statistiski pamatotus secinājumus. Šī pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka izvēlētajiem motivācijas veidiem ir pozitīva ietekme uz URP projektu panākumiem, ļaujot izstrādāt ieteikumus uzņēmumu un projektu vadītājiem, kas palīdzētu uzlabot URP darbinieku k…

LOGISTICS PROJECT PLANNING UNDER CONDITIONS OF RISK AND UNCERTAINTY
2017
The paper discusses highly important issues related to the practice of logistics project planning under conditions of certainty, risk, and uncertainty. This process requires the use of a variety of planning information (complete or incomplete, express or implied) as well as the generation of new knowledge. The decision-making process takes place in a deterministic or an nondeterministic situation; the former involves complete information (i.e., certainty) and the latter incomplete information (i.e., risk and uncertainty). Becoming acquainted with the discussed issues provides valuable practical knowledge that may be helpful in making important decisions when formulating concepts and models …
Fuzzy logic-decision-making system dedicated to evaluation of logistics project effectiveness
2016
Background: Project effectiveness is synonymous with project success. It is measured or assessed in terms of the degree to which project objectives are achieved. This paper presents an approach to evaluating the effectiveness of logistics projects. The starting point is the analysis of the current state of knowledge in the area of assessing project effectiveness, including logistics projects. The purpose of the study was to identify the critical factors determining the success of logistics projects and develop a model of logistics project effectiveness. Methods: The paper is based on the available recent scientific-theoretical research and publications and on practical studies in 25 enterpr…

Zarządzanie relacjami z interesariuszami w projektach
2018
The challenge for enterprises to deliver successful projects in a climate of uncertainty is met by ensuring that stakeholders are engaged in a way that enhances their collaboration during project execution. The purpose of this paper is to present the most important characteristics of stakeholder relationship management in projects. The authors present a new approach to Company Stakeholder Responsibility that could be adopted for projects executed by enterprises and supply chains. The paper presents a case study based on a chosen logistics project.
